What this track covers
This track covers the surgical patient journey from pre-op risk assessment through intraoperative technique to post-op recovery, including regional anatomy, wound closure, and management of common complications. It's built for clinicians who evaluate, assist with, or follow up on surgical care and want to sharpen both procedural knowledge and clinical judgment.
What you will practice
- Identify key anatomical landmarks and planes relevant to common procedures
- Select an appropriate suture technique and material for a given wound type
- Work through a pre-op risk stratification for a patient with comorbidities
- Recognize early signs of post-op complications like infection or dehiscence
- Reason through fluid and pain management decisions in the recovery period
Simulator scenario
A timed case where a patient develops fever and wound erythema on post-op day four, and the clinician must work through history, exam, and next steps to identify and manage a possible surgical site infection.
