What this track covers
This track covers the physics behind image formation, transducer selection, and normal sonographic anatomy across major body systems. From there it moves into recognizing common pathology patterns and applying ultrasound within real clinical workflows, including point-of-care settings.
What you will practice
- Choose transducer frequency and depth for a given body habitus and target organ
- Optimize gain, focus, and time-gain compensation to reduce artifact
- Distinguish normal anatomic variants from pathology on abdominal and pelvic views
- Apply a systematic scanning protocol for a point-of-care exam
- Recognize sonographic patterns that warrant escalation or further imaging
Simulator scenario
A patient presents with right upper quadrant pain, and the clinician must perform a focused abdominal ultrasound, identify the sonographic findings, and decide on next steps.
