What this track covers
This track covers imaging interpretation across the pediatric age spectrum, from neonate to adolescent, including normal developmental variants that can mimic pathology. It addresses radiation dose reduction principles for children and the presentation of common and time-critical pediatric conditions across modalities.
What you will practice
- Distinguish normal growth-plate and ossification variants from fracture or pathology
- Apply pediatric-specific dose-reduction reasoning when a study is ordered
- Recognize imaging patterns of common pediatric emergencies (e.g., intussusception, malrotation)
- Differentiate age-typical anatomy from findings that warrant further workup
- Communicate imaging findings clearly within a pediatric clinical context
Simulator scenario
A timed case of an infant presenting with intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting, where the clinician must select the appropriate imaging study and interpret findings suggestive of intussusception.
