What this track covers
This track covers OCD assessment and differential diagnosis, the principles of exposure and response prevention, pharmacologic management including high-dose SSRI strategies, and approaches to treatment-resistant disease. It's aimed at clinicians who diagnose or manage OCD and need a structured way to reason through escalation of care.
What you will practice
- Score symptom severity and track change over time using a structured OCD rating approach
- Differentiate OCD from tic disorders, generalized anxiety, and body dysmorphic presentations
- Explain exposure and response prevention rationale to a patient and identify when referral to a specialist is appropriate
- Sequence SSRI trials, including dose escalation and adequate trial duration before switching
- Evaluate augmentation options and next steps when first-line treatment fails
Simulator scenario
A patient with worsening checking rituals and functional impairment who has had a partial response to an SSRI, requiring the clinician to reassess severity and decide on next treatment steps.
