What this track covers
This track covers ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization across the three common access sites, including vessel identification, infection-prevention bundles, and the Seldinger technique. It also addresses post-procedure confirmation and recognizing complications, framed around the decisions clinicians make before, during, and after the procedure.
What you will practice
- Identify IJ, subclavian, and femoral vein anatomy on ultrasound
- Distinguish vein from artery and adjacent structures in short and long axis
- Apply sterile field setup and infection-prevention bundle steps
- Walk through wire-guided (Seldinger) catheter placement in sequence
- Recognize signs of malposition or complications requiring action
