What this track covers
This track covers the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis, interpretation of thyroid function tests and antibodies, and management approaches for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroiditis. It also addresses nodule evaluation using TI-RADS and biopsy criteria, plus special considerations in pregnancy, older adults, and drug-induced thyroid dysfunction.
What you will practice
- Distinguish overt from subclinical hypothyroidism using TSH and free T4 patterns
- Work through levothyroxine initiation, absorption factors, and dose-adjustment logic
- Differentiate Graves disease, toxic nodular goiter, and thyroiditis on labs and presentation
- Apply TI-RADS features to decide which nodules warrant FNA biopsy
- Interpret Bethesda classification results and plan appropriate follow-up
