This track covers how to apply biomarkers across cardiology, oncology, and rheumatology to inform diagnosis, treatment selection, and monitoring. It spans biomarker validation and clinical utility, companion diagnostics tied to specific therapies, and interpretation of cardiovascular and inflammatory marker panels.
What you will practice
- Distinguish diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers before applying results to a treatment decision
- Match a companion diagnostic requirement to the therapy it gates
- Interpret troponin and BNP/NT-proBNP trends in the context of a clinical presentation
- Weigh CRP, ESR, and autoantibody results when assessing disease activity
- Use serial biomarker measurements to judge treatment response and decide whether to adjust therapy
Simulator scenario
A patient with new symptoms and an ambiguous initial biomarker panel, where the clinician must decide what additional testing to order and how to adjust the treatment plan as serial results come in.
