What this track covers
This track covers MS diagnosis and classification, MRI-based monitoring of disease activity, and the growing range of platform and high-efficacy disease-modifying therapies. It also addresses ongoing symptom management and special situations such as pregnancy, pediatric MS, progressive disease, and therapy switching.
What you will practice
- Apply current diagnostic criteria to distinguish CIS, RRMS, SPMS, PPMS, and radiologically isolated syndrome
- Interpret MRI findings for new lesion activity, dissemination in space and time, and brain volume changes
- Compare mechanism, monitoring requirements, and risk profile across platform and high-efficacy DMTs
- Work through a DMT switch decision when a patient shows breakthrough disease activity
- Counsel on symptom management strategies for fatigue, spasticity, bladder dysfunction, and cognitive changes
Simulator scenario
A simulator case following a patient with a suspected first demyelinating event through workup, diagnosis discussion, and initial DMT selection.
