What this track covers
This track covers HIV pathophysiology and staging, current antiretroviral therapy selection for both treatment-naive and treatment-experienced patients, and prevention strategies including PrEP and PEP. It also addresses ongoing monitoring, comorbidity management, and opportunistic infection prophylaxis for patients living with HIV.
What you will practice
- Interpret CD4 counts and viral load trends to guide treatment decisions
- Select an initial ART regimen based on patient-specific factors
- Recognize when resistance testing or a regimen switch is indicated
- Determine appropriate OI prophylaxis based on CD4 threshold
- Assess PrEP eligibility and counsel on PEP timing after exposure
