Fall Risk Assessment and Prevention

You'll be able to systematically screen older adults for fall risk, interpret gait and balance testing, and build a coordinated prevention plan.

What this track covers

This track covers the clinical workflow for identifying and managing fall risk in older adults, from initial screening through medication and environmental review to exercise-based interventions. It's built for clinicians who evaluate community-dwelling or hospitalized older adults and need a repeatable, evidence-based approach to reduce fall risk without over- or under-referring patients.

  • Perform and interpret Timed Up and Go, chair stand, and balance testing
  • Recognize medication classes that commonly contribute to fall risk
  • Identify home environmental hazards and appropriate assistive device needs
  • Translate assessment findings into an individualized, multidisciplinary care plan
