What this track covers
This track covers the core knowledge behind percutaneous coronary intervention: coronary anatomy and angiographic views, diagnostic catheterization and hemodynamic assessment, stent selection and deployment, and recognition of procedural complications. It's meant for clinicians who work alongside or want to better understand the interventional cardiology workflow, not as a substitute for procedural training.
What you will practice
- Identify coronary segments and vessels across standard angiographic projections
- Interpret hemodynamic tracings from diagnostic catheterization
- Reason through PCI indications versus medical management or surgical referral
- Compare stent types and deployment considerations for a given lesion
- Recognize signs of common procedural complications and appropriate next steps
Simulator scenario
A patient presents with acute chest pain and ECG changes; the clinician must interpret the presentation, decide on urgency of catheterization, and anticipate potential procedural complications as the case evolves.
