What this track covers
This track covers accurate blood pressure measurement and diagnosis, including distinguishing white coat and masked hypertension using ambulatory monitoring. It builds toward guideline-based treatment initiation, first-line drug selection by comorbidity, combination therapy, and the workup for resistant hypertension and special populations.
What you will practice
- Confirm a hypertension diagnosis using proper measurement technique and ABPM data
- Select a first-line agent for patients with diabetes, CKD, heart failure, or CAD
- Decide when to start combination therapy versus titrating a single agent
- Work up suspected resistant hypertension, including adherence and secondary causes
- Adjust treatment approach for pregnancy, elderly patients, and hypertensive emergencies
