Non-Invasive Skin Tightening
You'll be able to explain how ultrasound, radiofrequency, and HIFU energy interact with skin and subcutaneous tissue and use that understanding to guide device selection and patient assessment.
What this track covers
This track covers the physics behind non-invasive skin tightening technologies, including focused ultrasound, monopolar, bipolar, and multipolar radiofrequency, and combination devices. It addresses how energy modality and delivery depth relate to tissue heating and collagen remodeling, along with skin laxity grading and candidate selection for face and body treatment areas.
What you will practice
- Differentiate energy delivery mechanisms across ultrasound, RF, and HIFU devices
- Grade skin laxity and evaluate tissue quality
- Match device modality and settings to treatment area and patient goals
- Identify contraindications and factors affecting candidacy
- Work through treatment planning decisions for face and body cases
Simulator scenario
A simulated consultation with a patient presenting mild-to-moderate lower face and neck laxity, where the clinician assesses tissue quality and works through device and treatment area selection.
Board question topics
- Energy modality and tissue interaction
- Skin laxity grading and assessment
- Contraindications and patient selection
- Treatment planning for face and body
