What this track covers
This track covers the venous anatomy relevant to sclerotherapy, including superficial and deep systems, valves, and reflux patterns, along with the mechanism by which sclerosant agents produce endothelial injury and vessel closure. It also addresses agent selection and liquid versus foam formulations for cosmetic and medical vein conditions.
What you will practice
- Distinguish superficial venous reflux patterns from deep venous involvement
- Compare detergent sclerosants (e.g., STS, polidocanol) versus osmotic agents
- Decide when liquid versus foam formulation is more appropriate
- Plan injection sequencing and technique using transillumination
