Microneedling Study Track
Build a working understanding of microneedling so you can select depth, device settings, and combination protocols with clinical reasoning behind each choice.
What this track covers
This track covers standard microneedling, microneedling with PRP, and RF microneedling, including the wound healing cascade that drives collagen and elastin production. You'll work through device operation, needle depth selection by treatment area and indication, and how to sequence combination protocols safely.
What you will practice
- Match needle depth to treatment area and skin condition
- Distinguish standard, PRP, and RF microneedling indications
- Sequence a combination protocol (e.g., microneedling plus PRP) in the correct order
- Recognize contraindications and situations warranting treatment deferral
- Explain the phases of wound healing to a patient in plain language
Simulator scenario
A virtual patient presents for acne scarring and asks about combining microneedling with PRP, requiring you to assess candidacy, choose settings, and counsel on expected recovery.
Board question topics
- Wound healing cascade phases
- Needle depth selection by anatomic site
- RF versus standard microneedling mechanisms
- Contraindications and pre-treatment screening
