What this track covers

This track covers the biology of the hair growth cycle and follicle miniaturization, the pathophysiology behind androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium, and how regenerative approaches such as PRP, exosomes, and stem cell-based techniques are used in practice. You'll also work through scalp anatomy and classification systems used to stage hair loss and set patient expectations.

What you will practice

  • Differentiate androgenetic alopecia from telogen effluvium and other causes of hair loss on history and exam
  • Stage male pattern loss using the Norwood-Hamilton classification and female pattern loss using the Ludwig scale
  • Map relevant scalp anatomy and vascular/nerve landmarks before planning injections
  • Compare mechanisms of action across PRP, exosomes, and stem cell-based regenerative approaches
  • Counsel a patient on realistic expectations based on their classification and candidacy
